Roof Cleaning and Restoration
What to look for and what to avoid.
Roof cleaning and coating in the UK is a relatively new aspect of property maintenance. A typical roof with clay or concrete tiles will, over a period of time, lose its waterproof qualities and become porous. This degradation of the tiles can result in structural damage to the roof by leakage, and water retention in the tiles. Moss will store water and as the roots penetrate the tiles they will start to crack and eventually break. A side effect of this will be blocked gutters and downpipes following rain. The cause of many problems on your roof is the porosity of the tiles, therefore NEVER have your roof cleaned without having it sealed with a protective coating, otherwise the cleaning process will only leave the surface unprotected and even more at risk. There has been an increase in the number of people agreeing to have their roof cleaned, without sealing, and then having problems afterwards. Our free, no obligation, written quotation will itemise everything leaving you with no unpleasant surprises. We include the replacement of broken tiles within our price –don’t get caught by having numerous additions to the original quote! Our specialist roof coatings come in a choice of colours that will leave your roof looking like new, be water resistant and protected from the harmful effects of uv light. The coating is also water vapour permeable allowing the tiles to expel moisture from the inside out, preventing fungal infections and mould growth. The coating is also flexible and allows movement within the tile, vital when tiles expand and contract in hot and cold weather. Your roof will last longer, make your home look more attractive as well as adding to its value. A 5 year guarantee is also given against any peeling or flaking.
